Blogroll and Commenting: Topic 3

Topic 3!

Questions:

  1. How could blogging be used to enhance learning in your high school classes? Blogging can be used to enhance my  learning in my classes this year because it is an easy way for my classmates to connect in one spot outside of the classroom, and for us to help each other out with any questions we might have about something we don't understand for either homework, or about the lesson we learned.
  2. Tell us about two of the characters in the book that you are reading for your book trailer. What do they look like?  What kind of personality characteristics do they have?  Do they have any problems?  Would you be friends with them if they went to PHS?  Two of the characters in my book that I am reading, How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe, are Charles Yu a time machine mechanic, who is the main character, and his father, the inventor of time travel. They both look similar, and are described to be kind of average in looks and personality. I probably wouldn't be friends with them if they went to PHS, but I would still talk to them sometimes, but based on how they act and are in the book they don't seem like people I would really be friends with.
  3. What about the setting of the book.  Where does it take place: in the country, the city, a high school? What is the time frame: in the present, the past, the future?  Describe one scene in the book so that we can get a feel for the setting and time. The book takes place in the future, in Mirror Universe 31, in a setting where time travel is possible. One scene example would be when he is describing how he (Charles) is a time machine technician, and has to travel around fixing other peoples time machines when they are stuck in a parallel universe. He has to go around stopping people from saving people that have died in the present, from killing people that should be alive in the present, and everything else that they try to do in attempting to change the future, and from creating a paradox.

  1. I think blogging works will with the library TAs because they aren't in the same class but need to comment on other periods library TAs' work. I enjoyed hearing about your book. Do the father and son get along in the book? Do they agree or disagree on actions? Just wondering. I have not yet read the book. But you might motivate me to do so.
